Happy Monday and hello everyone, especially to the new readers we picked up over the weekend!
As I mentioned last week, I’m taking two weeks off of just about everything; writing, checking my investment accounts, and social media to the extent possible. The unplug has been fantastic so far and needed to give the events taking place. By this time next week, I will have graduated college, organized a 15 person trip to another state, gotten engaged, moved across the country, and closed on buying a house. In natural ‘Brock’ fashion, just trying to tack on as much stress as possible.
Here are a few photos of last week’s events!
This is not a lifestyle newsletter so you’re probably here for content so let’s cover a few things.
This next week I will be outlining one of my best investment ideas and currently my top holding. I’ve prepared an intriguing history of the industry and will be sharing why I think the company is poised to succeed over the next 5 years. Stay tuned for that.
I don’t want to leave you high and dry for content this week because that’s what this is all about. Last week I recommended checking out Greg Isenberg and Packy McCormick’s Substacks - they both are phenomenal writers and cover new internet-based content through a business lens.
This week, you should check out Jamie Russo’s Goodnote. Jamie writes brief essays inspired by interesting pictures and visuals found online. The essays range from a page to a few sentences and have great encouragement when it comes to advice on building business and being a creator. The latest piece covers why it’s important to start small when building your castle. You can read that here.
Another person you should check out is Aaron Edelheit who writes Mindset Value. Aaron uncovers interesting companies, different business models, and investment ideas that fly in the face of conventional wisdom. His approach to investing is unique, contrarian, and he describes his process well. His latest piece on why it’s okay to own boring businesses in volatile times resonated with me. You can check it out here.
I appreciate you reading and sticking with me these last weeks. Part of writing this weekly has been learning that it’s okay to take a few weeks off. I still am not quite there yet but it’s coming. I’m eager to dive back in next week.
Talk soon,
~Brock
