The last few months I’ve been conducting a post mortem on my time writing a newsletter. My first takeaway was that I didn’t niche down hard enough. I came to realize that writing a personal finance newsletter for ‘everyone’ effectively meant it was for no one. Choose your audience. Lesson learned.
My second takeaway came realizing the difficulty of writing. You know that feeling when your output, in whatever medium, doesn’t match what you had in your head? I felt that every week. The reality is I need more practice and I’m doing that. On my own for now, but someday publicly again.
What I don’t have any problems with is running my mouth however (seriously, ask any of my bosses like ever). In the course of the post mortem I recognized I am extremely strong at conversation. Which leads me here today.
I’m happy to announce, alongside one of my best friends Tim Mccarthy, that we are launching a podcast. Appropriately named, The Scuttlebutt Podcast.
This podcast will be centered around military service members both active and veterans. Our goal with the podcast is to create a resource that will encourage active duty members to seek more, assist in the transition to the civilian life, and provide roadmaps for careers.
In natural military fashion, it will be rough around the edges, but in the good way. We’ve recorded several episodes already and we’re covering topics from mental health and substance abuse to using your passions to build a business. There’s so much I wish I would have known earlier and our hope is to fill that gap.
The first episode launches December 1st, but you can subscribe on both Spotify and Apple Podcasts at the following links.

I’m going to be migrating this mailing list over to podcast related information so if you do NOT want that, the unsubscribe button is at the bottom of the page. Thank you for your support and encouragement. My door is always open for any personal finance help.
If you do want that, simply do nothing. You’ll be hearing from me.

Very cool Brock - I just followed the pod on Spotify, best of luck!
